Merit Badge Resources

Posted on Mar 14 2023 - 3:11pm

When the Committee and other troop leaders meet with Scouts for their Board of Review meetings, we often find that scouts are struggling to meet their merit badge requirements, particularly as it relates to their Eagle Scout merit badges. While you can certainly take advantage of what our Troop offers you, please know there are MULTIPLE other resources around the Denver area where your scout can obtain merit badges through different events and programs.

Payment Policy Update

Posted on Jan 26 2023 - 10:35pm

It has become clear that we, as a troop, have not been very structured or consistent when it comes to campout fees, food and transportation costs. In the end, the troop has covered costs in some shape or form in many cases. We are also missing some valuable lessons for our scouts around budgeting, understanding the costs of things and planning accordingly. Therefore, we are implementing a new payment policy for campouts and events. Campouts and Events will be added to the calendar with an amount for the activity, if applicable. The default for payment for those scouts that sign up will come out of their individual scout accounts. Other forms of payment will still be accepted if desired or needed. For each event, payment will be required by the regular Monday meeting prior to the event. If payment is not made by that time, the scout will not be allowed to attend the event.

Struggling with Comparison

Posted on Apr 19 2022 - 7:04am

This message I would ask that you read it with your boy and share a discussion.
Every Scout lets his light shine in different ways. Every scout has a perfect mix of talents and abilities. The danger here is to fall into the trap of comparisons. Comparisons are worthless in a world of individuals. You are a perfect mix of talents and abilities to fulfill your missions in scouting, school, other organizations, sports, or religion. There is no point worrying about what talents and abilities other scouts have. If you don’t have them, you don’t need them for your mission. So get on out there and do good works! Let your light shine! —Taken from Amazing Possibilities (Modified)

Troop committee positions available!

If you are still interested helping out, remember, this for your son and his friends.

Adults,
With a number of boys finish up their earning Eagle and Aging out this year, there are several committee members looking for a replacement to train. This is a great way to support the program without having to be at every activity.

A Scout is....accountable!

No, we didn't just add another significant word to the Scout Law. Accountability is a word that summarizes the words of the Scout Law. We are accountable for our actions.
